Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has made a resolute declaration of loyalty to his political mentor and current Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, stating he would “rather die” than betray him.
The governor spoke to delegates following the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, on Tuesday.
“I would rather die than betray our mentor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam. I remain deeply grateful to him for the role he played in my political journey,” Buni said. “I will never forget where I am coming from, and I will never turn my back on the man who trusted and supported me.”
Buni emphasized that trust is the foundation of a successful political career, noting that he is a product of faith and support from his mentor.
“I always want to be remembered as someone who never betrays anybody,” he declared, urging newly elected APC officials in the state to uphold integrity and trust in their duties.
The governor’s remarks come amid efforts to strengthen party cohesion ahead of upcoming political contests, reinforcing loyalty and the principle of mentorship within the APC leadership structure in Yobe State.
