Governor Mai Mala Buni shortens official hours to accommodate fasting and religious activities

The Yobe State government has revised official working hours for the public service to align with the Holy month of Ramadan.

Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the adjustment, according to a statement from Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Deputy Director of Information, Office of the Head of Service.

New working hours during Ramadan

The revised schedule sets office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays will run from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

“This adjustment covers the month of Ramadan (Fasting) only, and normal working hours will resume immediately after the month of Ramadan,” the statement said.

The annual revision is part of a long-standing tradition in Yobe State, aimed at enabling public servants to engage fully in religious observances, including prayers and fasting-related activities.

Authorities emphasised that the adjustment is limited to the duration of Ramadan and urged all civil servants to comply with the temporary schedule.
