Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Paul Chukwuma, has accused Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, of bankrolling state-backed militias to disrupt the November 8 governorship election.
Chukwuma made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, monitored by DAILY POST.
He expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to deliver a credible election but warned that Soludo was allegedly plotting to undermine the process.
“The incumbent governor, regardless of whatever assurance he may have given, is poised to scuttle this election. He has made all necessary arrangements to violate provisions of the Electoral Act,” Chukwuma said.
“As we speak, the governor is using local government chairmen and state-funded militias in Anambra East to frustrate the voting process,” he alleged.
INEC has reiterated its readiness to conduct the Anambra election, assuring that security measures have been reinforced to ensure a peaceful poll.
