The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused some politicians of hiring armed thugs to sabotage the planned visit of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
APC Publicity Secretary Yusuf Idris briefed journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, claiming the alleged plot was designed to create chaos during Matawalle’s homecoming event scheduled for Thursday in Gusau and his hometown, Maradun.
“Unfortunately, we have received credible information that there is a serious, destructive plan for the minister’s visit,” Idris said.
The party warned its members to remain law-abiding and refrain from carrying weapons, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace during the minister’s visit. Idris also urged security agencies to intervene and ensure that anyone attempting to incite unrest is arrested.
APC stated that preparations had been made to welcome Matawalle, who is expected to engage with party leaders, members, and supporters across the state.
