Zamfara APC Still Struggling After Marafa’s Exit – Forum

The Senator Kabiru Marafa Consultative Forum has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State is yet to recover from the former lawmaker’s resignation.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the forum’s secretary, Mannir Bature Tsafe, dismissed the APC’s earlier claim that Marafa’s exit was “inconsequential.” He pointed to the party’s recent ceremony celebrating the defection of about 360 people it described as Marafa’s supporters as proof of his lingering influence.

“The contradiction is obvious. If Senator Marafa was truly inconsequential, there would be no need for such a celebration over the reported defection of his supporters,” Tsafe said.

He argued that the figure being paraded was insignificant compared to Zamfara’s overall voting population, stressing that the APC still struggles with the vacuum created by Marafa’s departure.

The forum further accused the ruling party of repeatedly presenting the same individuals as “new defectors” instead of focusing on genuine reconciliation and internal restructuring.

Tsafe noted that while Marafa had moved on to pursue his political ambition outside the APC, his political weight and grassroots influence would continue to shape developments in Zamfara politics.
