The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Munnir Haidara, has accused the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, of long-running anti-party activities even before he officially switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Haidara, reacting to Chiroma’s recent defection, alleged that the former party official had been quietly working against the PDP ahead of the last state assembly bye-election. He claimed Chiroma repeatedly held covert meetings with APC stakeholders during and after the vote—conduct he described as “suspicious” and a violation of PDP rules.
According to Haidara, Chiroma also leaked internal party information and actively sabotaged the PDP’s electoral efforts. He linked the defection of the party’s former assembly candidate, Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, to Chiroma’s influence.
He said the local chapter of the PDP had long been aware of Chiroma’s alleged actions and was not surprised by his eventual exit.
The council boss reaffirmed the party’s loyalty to Governor Dauda Lawal, commending what he described as the administration’s “people-oriented projects” across Kaura-Namoda. He urged residents to continue supporting government programmes and ongoing developments in the area.
While wishing Chiroma well, Haidara remarked that the former chairman would ultimately “reap what he sowed” by turning against the PDP.
