France Football has officially unveiled the first set of nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards, with some of football’s biggest clubs competing for recognition in the men’s and women’s categories.

The organisers published the shortlists on Tuesday ahead of the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony, scheduled to take place in London, United Kingdom, on October 26.

In the women’s Club of the Year category, Spanish giants Barcelona are among the nominees alongside Bayern Munich, Club América, Manchester City and OL Lyonnes.

The men’s Club of the Year shortlist features Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, Brazilian club Flamengo and reigning European powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

The nominations come as PSG star Ousmane Dembele prepares for another Ballon d’Or season after winning the individual award in the previous edition. Dembele claimed the prize ahead of Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.

The Ballon d’Or remains one of football’s most closely watched individual and institutional honours, celebrating outstanding performances across the global game.

With the October ceremony drawing closer, attention will now turn to the remaining categories and nominees expected to be announced by France Football.

Football fans will also be watching closely to see which clubs ultimately emerge as the standout teams of the 2025/2026 season when the winners are crowned in London.
