2027: ADC Vows to Defeat APC, Take Over Jigawa Government

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it is confident of defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and forming the next government in Jigawa State after the 2027 general elections.

ADC State Chairman, Dr Sani Muhammad Gumel, made the declaration while addressing journalists, insisting that the APC’s control of the state government would not prevent the opposition party from securing victory at the polls.

Gumel said the political landscape in Jigawa was changing, with the ADC gaining support among different groups across the state. He said the party was expanding its grassroots structures and mobilising political stakeholders ahead of the elections.

The chairman said the ADC was targeting victory across all three senatorial districts, the 11 House of Representatives constituencies and all 31 State House of Assembly seats in Jigawa.

He argued that voters would ultimately judge the APC by its record in office, stressing that incumbency alone could not guarantee electoral success. “Incumbency is not a guarantee of victory. What matters is the confidence of the people, the credibility of the candidates and the ability to provide good governance,” he said.

Gumel said the ADC was presenting itself as an alternative to the ruling party, with its agenda centred on accountability, transparency, economic growth and improved welfare. He added that politicians from different parties had continued to join the ADC as part of efforts to build a stronger opposition ahead of 2027.

“We have real and genuine politicians with grassroots support in our party. With credible candidates in all the positions, we are optimistic that ADC will take over power in Jigawa State come 2027,” he said.

The ADC chairman urged members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation while the party continues consultations with political stakeholders and communities. He also called on women and youths to participate actively in the electoral process and ensure their votes count.

Gumel said the party would unveil more details of its programmes and electoral strategy as preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace.
