Founder of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has warned Nigerian youths against engaging in ballot box snatching during the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, the cleric issued a strong warning to youths who may be tempted to participate in electoral violence, saying anyone who attempts to snatch a ballot box during the election would die.
Chinyere urged young Nigerians to reject the use of youths as political thugs and challenged politicians to involve their own children if they wanted such acts carried out.
“To all Nigerian youths, in the 2027 election, if you go near any ballot box just to snatch it, you will die,” he said.
The cleric also argued that many politicians send young Nigerians to engage in violent activities while their own children live outside the country.
“How long will Nigerians continue to fool themselves and allow politicians to fool them? They have children, and their children are abroad. They should bring their children to snatch ballot boxes for them,” he said.
Chinyere said Nigerians were tired of the pattern of electoral violence witnessed in previous elections and declared that the era of ballot box snatching should come to an end.
His comments come ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for January 16, 2027. The governorship and state House of Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
Chinyere’s warning adds to growing calls for peaceful participation and greater voter responsibility ahead of the 2027 polls, with electoral authorities and civil society groups also focusing on preventing violence and protecting the integrity of the voting process.
