Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Obafemi Hamzat, has visited the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, alongside his running mate, Damilola James, as political engagements gather momentum ahead of the polls.

Hamzat announced the visit in a post on his official X account on Thursday, describing the meeting as an opportunity to reflect on the values that shape communities and the institutions that support residents.

“Our communities are shaped by the values we uphold and the institutions that support our people. These visits offer an opportunity to reflect on the kind of society we want to build,” he wrote.

The deputy governor said his priority remained understanding the needs of Lagos residents and pursuing development that would improve their daily lives. He stressed the importance of listening to residents and building a state where progress delivers tangible benefits.

“Our focus remains on listening to Lagosians, understanding their needs and building a state where progress makes a real difference in people’s everyday lives,” Hamzat added.

The visit comes as political activities begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election, with Hamzat engaging religious leaders as part of his outreach. However, the details of any specific political endorsement or agreement arising from the meeting were not disclosed in his public statement.

The meeting with Olukoya follows Hamzat’s earlier visit to the General Overseer of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Pastor Lazarus Muoka. Hamzat announced that engagement on Wednesday, saying the discussions focused on collective efforts to build a Lagos that serves the interests of all residents.

He described the earlier meeting as an opportunity to reflect on their shared responsibility and the need for cooperation in pursuing a better future for the state.

The two visits highlight Hamzat’s engagements with prominent Christian leaders ahead of the 2027 election. With residents’ needs, public services and development expected to remain central issues in the campaign, the impact of these engagements will depend on the policies and commitments presented to voters as the election approaches.
