Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win re-election, urging progressive political groups across Nigeria to unite behind the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
Soludo made the remarks on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, while addressing Tinubu and members of the All Progressives Alliance Africa at the inauguration of the APC presidential campaign council in Abuja.
The governor reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s economic reform agenda and vision for national development, saying his position was informed by the need to strengthen national unity, improve security and promote shared prosperity.
“We in Africa believe in the unity of Nigeria. We believe in the security of Nigeria. We believe in the shared prosperity of Nigeria,” Soludo said.
He explained that these principles were among the reasons his political group was supporting the President, whom he described as representing key priorities needed to shape Nigeria’s present and future.
Soludo also called on progressive political forces across the country to work together, arguing that unity among groups with similar development goals would help advance the country’s transformation.
“I have called before that all progressives in Nigeria must unite. This is an opportunity that we must not miss,” he said.
“We must come together for this new Nigeria that we dream about,” the governor added.
Expressing confidence in Tinubu’s re-election prospects, Soludo suggested that a second term would give the administration an opportunity to accelerate its reform programme.
“In the second term, I want to believe, it’s not if you get second term. We are talking about when you get second term,” he said.
The Anambra governor acknowledged that the President’s economic reform agenda had been difficult but described its direction as necessary, urging Tinubu to remain committed to the policies.
“The path you are going, the path that you have chosen, that you have had the courage to take, is difficult, but it is necessary,” Soludo said.
He described the next phase of the administration’s reform programme as an opportunity to deepen what he called “pragmatic progressiveness” in Nigeria, arguing that progressive political groups should cooperate to consolidate policies aimed at national development.
Reaffirming his support for Tinubu, Soludo declared: “So I say to you, Mr. President, I’m with you.”
His remarks add to the political endorsements and calls for support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with the governor emphasising political cooperation and the continuation of the administration’s economic reforms.
