HOUSTON – Three suspects believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of a man in front of a business in the Alief area Tuesday are now in custody.
Houston Police said the shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. in the 7600 block of Boone Road, between Beechnut and Bellaire.
According to Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD, the man was standing in front of an insurance business when three suspects wearing masks drove up and got out of a vehicle.
There was some type of altercation between the man and the suspects, at which point the man was shot at least once.
The suspects then fled the scene in a white SUV. They were last seen going south on Boone Road.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died.
Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Crowson confirmed three suspects believed to have been involved in the shooting were taken into custody near the intersection of S. Loop 610 and Scott Street on Houston’s South Side.
Crowson said using information from witnesses, they were able to identify a white Chevrolet SUV they believed was involved in the shooting.
Undercover officers spotted the vehicle near NRG Park and tried to pull it over, but the suspects led officers on a short pursuit, ending with a crash at S. Loop 610 and Scott Street.
Two suspects inside the SUV were taken into custody. Crowson said a third suspect inside a separate vehicle which was following the SUV was also taken into custody.
Police say they believe the shooting happened during a robbery attempt.
