Afrobeats star Omah Lay has left fans deeply worried after confessing that he is once again battling depression.
The 26-year-old singer, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, made the revelation in an emotional Snapchat rant where he lashed out at the music industry, his management, and his younger self for signing what he described as exploitative contracts.
“Fk contracts. Fk labels. Fk the music business. Fk my younger self. F**k my manager. God please, I’m losing my mind again,” he wrote.
The outburst comes weeks after Omah Lay parted ways with his longtime manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi. While Awoniyi claimed the split was amicable, Omah Lay’s label mate, Kaestyle, suggested that Awoniyi had actually been sacked.
This is not the first time the Soso crooner has spoken publicly about his mental health struggles. His 2022 debut album Boy Alone featured raw lyrics about loneliness and depression. Just days after its release, Omah Lay admitted on social media that his depression worsened following a sexual encounter with his therapist.
Fans have since flooded social media with messages of support, urging the singer to seek help and prioritise his wellbeing.
