2027 Elections: Ganduje, Barau, Bichi Mobilise North-West Power Bloc for Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its 2027 campaign drive as heavyweight figures from Kano State — including former National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and lawmaker Abubakar Bichi — pledged massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

The high-profile meeting, held in Abuja on Thursday, brought together top APC stakeholders from the North-West. Speaking after the closed-door talks, Ganduje, a former Kano governor, said the party is united and determined to deliver both the presidency and the Kano governorship seat in 2027.

“We are here to examine our progress and assure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Kano APC is solidly behind him,” Ganduje said. “We appreciate his reforms, his projects in Kano, and the appointments given to our people.”

Deputy Senate President Barau described the gathering as “strategic,” stressing that the focus is now on mobilising voters across the North to recognise Tinubu’s achievements.

“We are going to do more to tell the people of Kano and the wider northern states what the President has delivered for our country,” Barau said.

Hon. Abubakar Bichi, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, echoed the sentiment, pointing to road projects and other infrastructure as proof of Tinubu’s commitment to Kano. “For someone to say the President is not interested in the North or in Kano State is just politics,” he remarked.

Others at the meeting included Minister of State for Housing Alhaji Abdullahi Atta, Senator Kawu Sumaila, Senator Kabiru Gaya, Sulaiman Bichi, and Hon. Mohammed Garba.

The show of unity from Kano’s political heavyweights underscores the North-West’s role as a decisive battleground ahead of the 2027 general elections.
