Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has declared that he remains fully accountable for every decision taken by his administration, insisting that credible leadership requires transparency and responsibility.
Speaking at a church service held at the Government House Chapel to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Uzodinma expressed gratitude for the opportunity to govern Imo State and pledged to stand by both the actions and inactions of his government.
The governor stressed that Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, yet still struggles with proper utilisation for economic recovery and improved livelihoods. He argued that the country must abandon outdated practices and embrace a “new order” to unlock its true potential.
“The old order is gone. They are gradually and incrementally giving way to the new order,” Uzodinma said. “We must work. We must be busy. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. A busy mind is a productive mind.”
He urged citizens to focus on progress rather than dwelling on the past, insisting that sustainable change is only possible when people embrace hard work and innovation.
Uzodinma’s remarks come at a time of mounting public concern over governance and accountability in Imo State, with the governor using the Independence Day platform to reassure citizens of his commitment to reforms aimed at delivering better welfare and opportunities.
