The political feud between Atiku Abubakar and Adams Oshiomhole has deepened after Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, launched a scathing response to remarks made by the Edo-born senator.
Oshiomhole, appearing on Channels Television over the weekend, had mocked the former vice president, saying Atiku had “allowed himself to be consumed by politics.” His comment followed Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Plateau State to attend the burial of the mother of APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Atiku had accused the president of showing “no empathy for Nigerians being killed by terrorists” across the country — a statement that drew sharp reactions from APC loyalists.
Responding on Tuesday via his official X handle, Paul Ibe accused Oshiomhole of sycophancy and fear of Atiku’s political influence.
“I have sympathy for Oshiomhole. He is tailoring sycophancy with a designer touch and has allowed himself to be consumed by the hate and fear of @atiku,” Ibe wrote.
The war of words underscores the growing political tension between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) as opposition figures continue to criticise the Tinubu administration’s handling of security and the economy.
While Oshiomhole has maintained that Atiku’s criticism is driven by desperation, Atiku’s camp insists that the former vice president is merely voicing the frustration of Nigerians.
