Former Kano State governorship candidate and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Ibrahim Ali Amin, popularly known as Ibrahim Little, has delivered a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has worsened Nigeria’s challenges instead of solving them.
Little’s remarks came in reaction to President Tinubu’s recent claim during a book launch in Imo State that the APC had fulfilled the “promise of change” it made to Nigerians ten years ago.
According to the ADC chieftain, the only “change” Nigerians are experiencing is negative.
“You know, the word change can actually be positive or negative,” Little told DAILY POST. “If you ask ordinary Nigerians today, especially those who have no ties to the APC government, they’ll tell you the truth — whatever problem we had under Buhari has actually worsened.”
Little accused the Tinubu-led government of failing to connect with ordinary Nigerians, describing the administration as one that prioritises rhetoric over tangible results.
“Governance is 99% action and only about 1% talk,” he said. “Unfortunately, what we see today is all talk and no real impact on people’s lives.”
He faulted the government’s handling of insecurity, noting that the President had failed in his constitutional duty to protect lives and property.
“Every day, more people are being killed by Boko Haram, kidnappers, or bandits,” he said. “It’s no longer just a northern problem — it’s a national tragedy. Some local governments in Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara are now under the control of bandits. People are paying taxes to criminals instead of the government.”
The ADC stalwart lamented that the nation’s territorial integrity had “suffered a great setback” as a result of widespread insecurity, adding that Tinubu’s administration had also failed in its responsibility to ensure citizens’ welfare.
“Nigerians have become poorer. Many can no longer afford basic needs,” he said. “While ordinary people are suffering, those in government are busy looting the treasury. The economy is suffocating — small businesses are collapsing and unemployment is rising.”
Little also criticised the President for failing to visit communities affected by insurgency and banditry.
“Since his inauguration, he has never visited any area hit by Boko Haram or banditry. But he finds time to attend weddings and burials of political associates,” he said.
On the economy, he accused the government of worsening citizens’ hardship through multiple taxation and failed social intervention schemes.
“Whatever way you look at this presidency, it is filled with hardship. Yes, there’s change — but it’s a negative change,” he said.
Little dismissed the federal government’s student loan and empowerment programmes as “scams” meant to deceive Nigerians.
“When they say they’ve empowered thousands, where are those beneficiaries? If they claim to have employed 100,000 in Kano, maybe you’ll find 500 or 1,000. The rest are fabricated figures,” he alleged.
He also questioned the effectiveness of the student loan scheme: “It looks good on paper, but how many students have actually benefited? Everything sounds fine in theory, but in practice, nothing works.”
Concluding, Little said President Tinubu’s claim of fulfilling APC’s change agenda is “far from reality.”
“Anybody can say whatever they want — it’s democracy. But Nigerians know the truth. The change we were promised has only brought pain, hunger, and insecurity.”
