Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at his critics, saying those who once accused him of destabilising the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have now joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during the flag-off of the construction of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) in Abuja, Wike said the same politicians who labelled him a traitor are now proudly working under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“It has never been like this before. Whichever party you belong to, all of them have always worked together to support this administration,” Wike said at the event held along Wasa Road, by Shoprite Junction in the Apo area of the FCT.

He added, “I’ve been watching people on television and social media who said I wanted to destabilize the PDP and that I was working for the APC — all of them are now in APC. So they should commend me for working for where they are heading to. I should be praised for doing a good job for them.”

Wike’s comments come amid a wave of defections from the PDP to the APC, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and former PDP National Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye, who recently declared that the South East has “found a home” in the ruling party.

The former Rivers State governor, known for his outspoken style, has long been accused by PDP loyalists of undermining the party from within — allegations he has repeatedly denied, insisting he only supports what is right for Nigeria.
