Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his support for Accord candidates in the 2027 legislative elections, despite forming a coalition with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Adeleke clarified that the political alliance was established solely to support Tinubu in the January 2027 presidential election and would not extend to contests for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

The governor made this known in a post on his X account on Friday, following the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for Tinubu’s re-election.

“My support for all Accord candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly remains unshaken,” Adeleke stated.

He explained that the coalition, comprising Accord, APC and PDP members, was united behind the President’s second-term ambition but would maintain separate positions in the legislative elections.

“Our rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP is united solely for President Tinubu’s re-election in the January 2027 presidential election. This partnership does not extend to the legislative elections,” he said.

Adeleke also expressed confidence that the coalition would deliver more than the 1.5 million votes previously pledged for Tinubu in Osun State.

On the lingering local government crisis in the state, the governor said negotiations were at an advanced stage, adding that he had received assurances from the Federal Government regarding a possible resolution.

“On the Osun local government crisis, negotiations are at an advanced stage. I have received the assurance of the Federal Government, and there will be positive developments soon,” he stated.

The governor further called on political stakeholders to set aside their differences and work together, stressing the need for unity to secure a prosperous future for the country.

“These are critical times that demand unity beyond political differences. From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future,” Adeleke added.
