Motorists travelling along the Kaduna–Zaria expressway have been advised to expect a temporary diversion at KM 49, Gwaranza Village, as part of ongoing construction on the Kaduna–Kano Standard Gauge Railway project.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Kaduna, Tijjani Iliyasu, made the announcement on Saturday, urging drivers to adhere to the new traffic arrangements to ensure safety and smooth movement along the busy corridor.

“This is to notify the motoring public, particularly motorists plying the Kaduna–Zaria route, that there will be a temporary diversion of traffic at KM 49, Gwaranza Village,” Iliyasu said. “The diversion is to enable authorities to carry out construction work on an overpass as part of the Kaduna–Kano Standard Gauge Rail Line Project.”

According to him, the diversion takes effect from November 1, 2025, and will remain in place until further notice.

The FRSC boss appealed to motorists to drive with caution, obey traffic signs, and follow directions from officers stationed at the site to ease congestion. He further advised road users to report emergencies through the FRSC toll-free line 122 or call 09139601839.

The Kaduna–Zaria expressway is one of the busiest routes in northern Nigeria, linking major cities and serving as a key economic artery for movement of goods and passengers across the region.
