ICPC Pledges Full Transparency as 2025 Asset Disposal Exercise Begins

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has vowed to run its 2025 Asset Disposal Exercise with total transparency, insisting that every stage of the process will be governed by fairness, integrity and strict adherence to due process.

The Commission’s Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, delivered the assurance during the formal opening of bids at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday. He was represented by Olusegun Adigun, Director of the Systems Study and Review Department.

Dr Aliyu stressed that the credibility of the Commission rests on its commitment to accountability, explaining that all recovered assets must be managed responsibly and channelled toward national development.

“As an institution, the ICPC remains resolute in ensuring that every kobo recovered on behalf of the Nigerian people is properly managed, transparently utilized, and ultimately directed toward national development,” he said.

He added that all submissions from auctioneers would be assessed solely on merit and in line with clearly defined criteria, ruling out any form of favouritism.

Grace Aga-Ibe, Director of the Proceeds of Crimes Department, reinforced the Commission’s stance, saying the 2025 disposal exercise would reflect the highest levels of integrity and fairness.

The Executive Director of the Centre for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI), Umar Yakubu, praised the ICPC for aligning its process with global anti-corruption norms, especially the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

Auctioneers at the ceremony also commended the Commission for what they described as an open, credible and professional process. They were informed that only bidders who meet the stipulated requirements would advance to the next phase.

Representatives of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) witnessed the bid opening.

The ICPC recently published the outcomes of its 2024 Asset Disposal Exercise, highlighting assets recovered and returned to the national coffers.
