Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has ordered the prosecution of popular TikTok content creator Peller following a car crash that sparked widespread outrage on social media.
The directive was issued on Monday after videos of the incident circulated online, triggering public condemnation and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws against social media influencers.
According to the FRSC, its Lagos State Command has been instructed to initiate legal action against the TikTok star over alleged traffic violations linked to the crash, which reportedly occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Online reports alleged that the incident followed a personal dispute between Peller and his girlfriend, fellow content creator Jarvis, though authorities have focused on the road safety implications rather than the circumstances surrounding the relationship.
In a statement posted on X, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Muhammed, said the case would be pursued in line with existing traffic regulations, stressing that reckless conduct on public roads would not be tolerated.
He directed the Lagos command to prosecute Peller for alleged reckless driving, use of a mobile phone while driving, and distracted driving.
The FRSC chief also used the incident to caution the entertainment industry, urging stakeholders — including the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), content creators, and entertainment associations — to rein in their members and discourage dangerous behaviour on Nigerian roads.
“Fame does not confer immunity from the law, nor does it excuse dangerous behaviour on public roads,” the statement said.
The incident has reignited debate about the influence of social media personalities and the growing concern over risky stunts performed for online engagement, particularly when public safety is at stake.
