President Bola Tinubu has condemned the murder of a Kano housewife, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children, describing the attack as barbaric and calling for swift justice.
The victims were killed in Chiranci community, Kano State. In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president praised the police for arresting the main suspects quickly and ordered a full investigation and diligent prosecution.
Tinubu also offered condolences to the bereaved family, urging security agencies to ensure that the suspects are brought to justice.
The president also expressed grief over the death of Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, a prominent businessman and leader of Kano’s commercial community, who died over the weekend.
Tinubu said Abdulaziz’s death was a major loss not only to Kano but to Nigeria, given his influence in commerce and trade. Abdulaziz served as National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria (HATON) and held leadership roles in several trade unions.
The president also acknowledged Abdulaziz’s support during the 2023 election campaigns and praised his commitment to national unity through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), which he founded.
Tinubu extended his condolences to the Kano business community, the people of Kano, and the state government.
