Gospel Music Star Taiwo Adegbodu of Adegbodu Twins Dies, Nigerian Christian Community in Mourning

Nigeria’s gospel music scene has been thrown into grief following the death of celebrated gospel artiste Taiwo Adegbodu, one half of the renowned Adegbodu Twins.

News of his passing broke on Sunday after his twin brother and longtime ministry partner, Kehinde Adegbodu, announced the tragedy in an emotional social media post.

In a message filled with anguish, Kehinde expressed shock and heartbreak over the sudden loss of both his brother and spiritual co-labourer.

“TAIWO, why will you leave me and your kids without notification?
My heart is bleeding, Lord how do you want me to cope without him?
God why? This is too much for me to bear!!!”

The Adegbodu Twins were widely respected in gospel circles for their electrifying worship sessions, harmonious twin-stage ministrations, and energetic performances that captivated congregations across Nigeria. Their ministry was especially influential in the South-West, where they built a strong and devoted following.

For years, Taiwo and Kehinde’s unique twin dynamic became their signature — blending powerful vocals with spirited praise that resonated deeply within churches and Christian gatherings.
