
Justice Bamidele Adeleye of the Ondo State High Court has passed away, marking a significant loss for Nigeria’s judiciary. The news was confirmed on Friday by the Chief Registrar of the court, Mr Ayodeji Akinsanya, in Akure.
Justice Adeleye served as the presiding judge of High Court 5, Akure, and was widely respected for his integrity, wisdom, and dedication to the rule of law. His career was characterized by fairness, impartiality, and a commitment to justice that earned him admiration among colleagues, legal practitioners, and the public.
“It is with deep sorrow and profound grief that the Ondo State Judiciary announces the passing of Hon. Justice B. F. Adeyeye… Justice Adeyeye departed this earthly realm on Thursday, March 12, 2026,” the statement read.
Justice Adeleye was born on January 16, 1961, and founded the law firm Fola Adeyeye & Co. in Okitipupa before his appointment to the bench. He was sworn in as a High Court judge on September 8, 2011.
The judiciary expressed heartfelt condolences to his family, praying for strength and peace. His contributions to the growth of Ondo State’s judicial system are expected to leave a lasting legacy.
“We pray that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear this irreparable loss and that the soul of our departed brother rests in perfect peace,” the statement added.
Justice Adeleye’s passing is being mourned not only by the Ondo State Judiciary but also by the broader legal community and the citizens of Ondo State.
