Former deputy governor vows to champion youth empowerment, transparency, and citizen-focused governance
Former Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ending his long-standing association with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madumere submitted his declaration letter to the PDP in Imo State, explaining that his move is aimed at uniting like-minded individuals to restore democratic rights and strengthen governance for citizens.
Focus on youth and good governance
Speaking to newsmen, Madumere highlighted his commitment to youth empowerment, innovation, and transparent governance. “I believe that when the platform one stands on is no longer serving the purpose of the people, it then becomes apt to build a new one,” he said.
He described the defection as a defining moment in his political career, reached after extensive consultation with family, mentors, and supporters.
APC tenure acknowledged
Madumere expressed gratitude to APC for providing the platform that enabled him to serve as Deputy Governor. He emphasized that his departure is not born out of malice but necessity, citing internal conflicts, loss of ideological direction, and disregard for loyal members as key factors.
“Remaining there would be a disservice to the very people who once voted me as Deputy Governor of Imo State,” he said, adding that the decision is motivated by a desire for better performance, representation, and service delivery.
Madumere concluded that his defection reflects a principled commitment to improved governance rather than personal ambition.
