President Bola Tinubu has thrown down the gauntlet to Nigeria’s opposition ahead of the 2027 political season, insisting that no coalition or political alliance can intimidate him out of office or derail his administration’s agenda.

Speaking in Abuja while hosting members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tinubu dismissed what he described as coordinated opposition efforts, saying he remains fully committed to his reform programme despite growing political tension across the country.

The President framed the pushback against his government as a normal part of democratic governance, urging critics to respect the judiciary and constitutional order rather than resorting to political pressure campaigns.

He insisted that his administration will not be distracted by what he called “noise” from opposition circles, adding that Nigeria must remain focused on unity, progress, and institutional stability.

Tinubu also used the occasion to defend his economic reforms, arguing that difficult decisions were necessary to correct long-standing structural weaknesses in the economy he inherited.

He maintained that the government’s priority is to rebuild public trust and create conditions for long-term prosperity, even if the reforms are unpopular in the short term.

In a pointed political message, the President appeared to reference opposition figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Nasir el-Rufai, saying attempts to unseat him through alliances or criticism would not succeed.

According to him, his political journey has always been marked by resistance, but he remains undeterred and focused on delivering his mandate.

The President also called on members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to intensify efforts in promoting government policies at the grassroots level, saying communication and public understanding are key to sustaining reforms.

Earlier, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma said the initiative was designed to strengthen public engagement by translating federal policies into messages that ordinary Nigerians can understand.

Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari also backed the administration, noting that reform-driven governments often face resistance but must remain consistent to achieve meaningful change.

The remarks come at a time of increasing political alignment among opposition figures, setting the stage for what could become one of Nigeria’s most competitive election cycles in recent history.
