Ife-North Stakeholders Demand 2027 Reps Ticket Zoning, Threaten Political Mobilisation in Osun

A coalition of stakeholders, youths, students and union leaders in Ife-North Local Government Area of Osun State has demanded that the 2027 House of Representatives ticket be zoned to the area by the All Progressives Congress and Accord Party.

The demand was made during a press conference by a coalition of Ife-North indigenes at home and in the diaspora, who accused the existing political structure of long-standing exclusion.

The group said the call is driven by what it described as decades of marginalisation in political representation and development within the Ife Federal Constituency.

Speaking for the coalition, Chairman Bolaji Olabode said Ife-North has waited too long for fair representation at the national level.

“This is not a plea—it is a demand rooted in justice. Ife-North has waited long enough. Our relevance must go beyond elections into actual representation,” he said.

Another stakeholder, Emmanuel Oderinola, argued that the area’s electoral strength and economic contributions have not translated into political appointments or federal representation.

He described the imbalance as unfair, insisting that communities in the area continue to contribute significantly to elections without receiving proportional development benefits.

Student representative Olalekan Johnson, also known as Idera, called for unity among residents, urging them to transform their population strength into political influence.

He said the time had come for the community to take a stronger position in determining its political future.

Youth leader Babalola Taiwo also described the situation as generational exclusion, alleging that the system has consistently sidelined the area.

According to him, the issue is not about capacity but structural neglect that has lasted for decades.

Coalition Secretary Akinnibi Miftahudeen stressed that the demand is not tied to any political party but to fairness and equitable representation.

He warned that no political system can maintain credibility while excluding a major stakeholder group.

Student leader Oluwafemi Oladele, popularly known as Fresh, said youths are prepared to mobilise if their demand is ignored, signalling possible grassroots political action ahead of the 2027 elections.

The coalition urged both APC and Accord Party to formally zone the House of Representatives ticket to Ife-North and also called for the creation of a transparent zoning framework within the constituency.

It further appealed to neighbouring local government areas—Ifе Central, Ife East and Ife South—to support what it described as a push for justice, warning that it would intensify mobilisation if its demands are not addressed.
