The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adjusted its timetable for the 2027 general election primaries, moving the House of Representatives primary election to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

According to the party, all other previously scheduled dates for the primaries remain unchanged, signalling a structured rollout of its internal election process ahead of the 2027 general polls.

Under the revised timetable, the APC primary elections will now proceed as follows:

  • House of Representatives – Saturday, May 16, 2026
  • Senate – Monday, May 18, 2026
  • State House of Assembly – Wednesday, May 20, 2026
  • Governorship – Thursday, May 21, 2026
  • Presidential – Saturday, May 23, 2026

The party said the adjustment only affects the House of Representatives primary, while all other dates remain intact.

The APC’s timetable sets the stage for a tightly packed week of internal party contests that will determine candidates across federal and state levels ahead of the 2027 elections.

Political observers say the sequence reflects an effort to streamline the party’s nomination process and reduce internal delays, although primaries in Nigeria often come with intense competition and last-minute negotiations.

With the presidential primary scheduled for May 23, attention is expected to shift quickly toward top aspirants as the ruling party prepares for one of its most consequential nomination exercises in recent years.
