Lagos Crash at Ipaja Bus Stop Leaves 10 Injured as Car Slams Into Tricycles

A busy Monday morning turned chaotic in Lagos after a violent road crash at Federal Bus Stop along Ipaja Road left about 10 commuters injured following a collision involving a car and two commercial tricycles.

The accident, which occurred around 8:50 a.m., involved a Honda vehicle with registration number KTU 921 JY. Eyewitnesses say the impact triggered panic as passengers and passersby scrambled to rescue victims from the wreckage.

According to multiple accounts at the scene, the female driver of the Honda car was reportedly speeding when she tried to avoid hitting a Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) street sweeper working along the road.

In the attempt to swerve, the vehicle allegedly struck the sweeper before losing control completely. The car then veered into the opposite lane, where it rammed into two commercial tricycles carrying passengers.

Several occupants were injured in the collision, with some reportedly sustaining serious injuries while others escaped with minor wounds. The crash caused immediate traffic disruption in the busy corridor.

Emergency response teams, including operatives of the Nigeria Police Force from Gowon Division, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and local security personnel, arrived swiftly to secure the area and manage traffic flow.

Victims were first rushed to a nearby private hospital for urgent treatment before some were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.

As of press time, authorities had not issued an official statement on the cause of the crash or confirmed the final casualty count.
