Thousands of candidates who missed the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, due to technical glitches and biometric verification issues now have one final opportunity to sit for the exam.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced Saturday, June 13, 2026, as the official date for the UTME mop-up examination for affected candidates across the country.

JAMB disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abuja by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, explaining that the exercise is strictly for candidates who were successfully verified biometrically during the main examination but could not complete or sit for the test due to different challenges.

The board noted that the 2026 UTME was originally conducted between April 23 and April 29, 2026, but some examination centres experienced technical problems that disrupted the process for several candidates.

Apart from technical failures, JAMB also revealed that some examination results were later withdrawn over infractions, while a number of candidates faced biometric verification problems during the exercise.

According to the examination body, all candidates affected by these issues have now been scheduled for the mop-up examination, which it described as the final phase of the 2026 UTME exercise.

“The mop-up examination serves as an opportunity to address all outstanding examination challenges involving candidates who duly presented themselves but encountered difficulties in taking the examination,” the statement read.

JAMB advised affected candidates to begin printing their Examination Notification Slips from Saturday, June 6, 2026, to confirm their examination centres and other important details ahead of the test date.

The board also warned that there would be no additional opportunity for candidates to sit for the 2026 UTME after the mop-up examination, urging all affected persons to make adequate preparations before the deadline.

Candidates were further encouraged to familiarise themselves with their designated centres early to avoid last-minute confusion or delays on examination day.
