Rangers Shift Focus To Federation Cup Battle As Ezeaku Warns Of Rivers United Revenge Mission

Fresh from lifting the Nigeria Premier Football League title, Rangers International are already being warned against getting carried away by the celebrations.

The club’s General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, has charged the Flying Antelopes to immediately switch attention to the President Federation Cup, where they face fierce rivals Rivers United in a high-stakes Round of 32 showdown.

The encounter is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, with expectations already building around what many fans see as one of the toughest fixtures of the round.

Ezeaku admitted that Rangers will be coming up against a wounded Rivers United side still hurting from missing out on the league title. He warned that the Port Harcourt club would likely approach the game with extra aggression and determination.

“Congratulations, boys, on winning the NPFL title. But you should put that behind you right now and focus on the next game, which is the Federation Cup Round of 32 match against Rivers United,” Ezeaku said.

“You know it’s going to be a tough game because they will throw everything into the match. We denied them the league title, so they will come fully prepared to win this one.”

Rangers enjoyed an impressive league campaign that saw them emerge as champions after months of intense competition. However, the club’s management believes the season will only become truly memorable if the team secures a domestic double.

Ezeaku urged the players not to allow the excitement surrounding their NPFL success distract them from the bigger objective ahead.

“You must not allow your celebrations to be cut short. Is it a bad thing for us to win the double? So, all attention and focus should be geared towards the game,” he added.

The Federation Cup clash is expected to attract massive attention from football fans across Nigeria, especially given the growing rivalry between both clubs and the high quality of players on display.

For Rangers, victory would move them one step closer to an unforgettable season. For Rivers United, the fixture presents an opportunity for revenge and a chance to salvage silverware from a campaign that narrowly slipped away.
