Katsina Police Arrest Housewife for Allegedly Slitting Husband’s Throat While He Slept

A 23-year-old housewife has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command after she allegedly attacked her husband with a knife while he was asleep, leaving him with a serious neck injury.

The incident reportedly occurred in Katsina metropolis, where the victim, Jamilu Ibrahim, escaped death after sustaining a deep cut to his neck during the alleged early morning attack.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the victim reported the matter at the Central Market Police Division at about 9:00 a.m.

According to the police, Ibrahim told investigators that his wife, Sadiya Lawal, allegedly attacked him at about 5:30 a.m. while he was asleep and attempted to slit his throat with a sharp knife.

The victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Police said medical personnel confirmed that he is responding positively to treatment.

Following the report, detectives visited the scene of the incident, arrested the suspect and recovered the knife believed to have been used during the attack.

The police said Sadiya Lawal remains in custody as investigators work to determine the circumstances and possible motive behind the alleged assault.

The Katsina State Police Command added that investigations are ongoing and that appropriate legal action will be taken upon their conclusion.
