The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians to turn to God as the ultimate solution to the country’s security and socio-economic challenges, saying genuine transformation begins with spiritual renewal.

Kumuyi made the appeal while speaking with journalists after paying a courtesy visit to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, at the Government House. The visit formed part of activities marking the week-long Global Crusade taking place in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas.

Reflecting on the nation’s security situation, the renowned cleric acknowledged that individuals may be responsible for acts of violence but insisted that lasting solutions can only come from God.

“We know that, when bad things happen, there are people who are responsible for it, but the people are not the solution. God is our problem solver,” Kumuyi said.

He further called on Nigerians to embrace humility, repentance and prayer, citing the biblical promise that God is willing to heal the nation when His people turn away from wrongdoing.

“God is waiting for us. He said, ‘If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins,’ He is ready to solve their problems,” he added.

Kumuyi explained that the Global Crusade in Gboko and Otukpo was designed to encourage people to reconnect with God and seek divine intervention in addressing the country’s numerous challenges.

The cleric also praised the Benue State Government for the progress recorded in infrastructure and education despite the persistent security challenges confronting the state.

“Benue is making remarkable progress in infrastructure and education, despite visible challenges around insecurity,” he said.

Speaking during the visit, Deputy Governor Sam Ode described Benue as a state blessed with abundant agricultural potential and human resources. He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration to building a peaceful, united and inclusive state where residents can prosper.

The Global Crusade comes shortly after Benue State marked its 50th anniversary, during which the government renewed calls for peace, reconciliation and unity among citizens.

Benue remains one of the states most affected by insecurity in Nigeria, with repeated attacks by armed groups forcing thousands of residents from their communities. Many displaced families continue to live in camps as government authorities and security agencies work towards restoring peace and facilitating their safe return.
