Ogun Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers Linked to Abduction of Okun Owa Prince

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit have shot dead two suspected kidnappers believed to be involved in the abduction of Prince Idris Adesulu, popularly known as Osho, the Prince of Okun Owa in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

The operation followed an intensive manhunt launched after the traditional prince was kidnapped at his residence on Ogbe Road on the evening of June 30, 2026.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, armed men ambushed the prince as he arrived home at about 7:30 p.m. Witnesses said the attackers opened fire before forcefully taking him away, while members of his family escaped unharmed.

Babaseyi said the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, immediately deployed the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams to rescue the victim and track down those responsible for the crime.

The police confirmed that Prince Adesulu regained his freedom unharmed on July 3, 2026. Following his release, security operatives intensified efforts to arrest the kidnappers.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers stormed the Agoro/Imodi axis, where they encountered the suspected criminals. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police, leading to a gun battle during which two of the alleged kidnappers were killed. Other members of the gang reportedly escaped into nearby bushes with gunshot wounds.

A search of the suspects led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to have been used for collecting ransom, and other items believed to be connected to the kidnapping operation.

Police said the bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy, while investigations continue. Efforts are also underway to arrest the fleeing gang members and recover additional exhibits.

Commending the officers involved in the operation, CP Ojajuni praised their professionalism and bravery. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across Ogun State and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
