Nnamdi Kanu’s Wife Dismisses Divorce Reports With Laughing Emoji Amid Viral Claims

Fresh speculation surrounding the marriage of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been dismissed by his wife, Uchechi Kanu, who mocked reports claiming she had filed for divorce.

Reacting through her verified X account, Uchechi laughed off the allegation, suggesting she was only just hearing about the supposed divorce filing.

“Good conscious evening, my blessed Biafrans. I have just learned that I filed for Divorce while my husband is in prison 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” she wrote.

The social media response came after reports circulated alleging that Uchechi had ended the marriage over claims of infidelity, financial neglect and interference from Kanu’s family members.

The reports further claimed that the couple, who reportedly got married in 2009, had experienced years of marital difficulties allegedly linked to Kanu’s personal life. They also alleged that before his arrest in 2015, the IPOB leader had a relationship with a woman identified as Chioma Amaryllis Ahaghotu, whom he allegedly met in 2014.

According to the unverified reports, Chioma believed Kanu was unmarried at the time and reportedly provided him with financial support before ending the relationship after allegedly discovering what she considered a pattern of deception.

Uchechi, however, did not address any of the specific allegations contained in the reports. Her reaction focused solely on dismissing the claim that she had initiated divorce proceedings.

Kanu is currently serving a life imprisonment sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre following his conviction on terrorism-related charges arising from his campaign for the creation of Biafra.
