
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes France will face a stern test in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, regardless of whether they meet Spain or Belgium.
Henry made the remarks on Fox Sports after France secured a 2-0 victory over Morocco in Thursday’s quarter-final, booking their place in the last four of the tournament.
The French side will now take on the winner of Friday night’s quarter-final between Belgium and Spain, with the semi-final scheduled for Tuesday at Dallas Stadium.
Speaking after France’s victory, Henry urged Didier Deschamps’ side to raise their performance levels, warning that tougher challenges lie ahead.
“I hope they are going to have more gears, because whoever is coming next is going to be a big game,” Henry said.
The former France striker noted that a meeting with Belgium would bring added intensity because of the long-standing rivalry between the neighbouring nations.
He also highlighted the threat posed by Spain, describing the European champions as one of the strongest teams left in the competition.
“If you play Belgium, there is a bit of rivalry there. And if you play Spain, you’d better be ready because they are the European champions. You know what Spain can do. They got France out of the last Euros in the semifinal.”
