Gov Yusuf Confirms Murtala Garo as Running Mate for 2027 Kano Governorship Election

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially confirmed Murtala Sule Galadima Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, expressing confidence in the deputy governor’s leadership and commitment to the administration.

Governor Yusuf made the announcement on Monday during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees serving under President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision was attributed to Garo’s loyalty, dedication and contributions to the state’s development since the administration assumed office.

Speaking at the meeting, Yusuf described his deputy as dependable and capable, saying he had justified the confidence reposed in him.

“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy in the last few months, and he has proven to be the right choice so far. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” the governor said.

Yusuf also passed a vote of confidence on the deputy governor, commending his competence, commitment and sense of responsibility in advancing the administration’s programmes and policies.

The governor urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

He stressed the need for continued cooperation to consolidate the achievements of his administration while strengthening the party’s position ahead of the next governorship contest.

The announcement effectively settles speculation over Yusuf’s choice of running mate, with Garo now confirmed to remain on the ticket as the governor seeks a second term in office.
