2027: Imo East PDP Leaders Endorse Ex-Deputy Governor Eze Madumere for Senate

Support is gathering behind former Imo State Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere as leaders and stakeholders of Imo East Senatorial District (Owerri Zone) have unanimously endorsed his ambition to represent the district in the Senate in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced after a meeting of political leaders and stakeholders from the zone, who also passed a vote of confidence on Madumere, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Imo East.

A statement issued by Hon. Ezenta Chibuike Ejimkonye said the decision followed the stakeholders’ assessment of Madumere’s leadership qualities, political experience and public service record. They described him as a seasoned statesman, accomplished administrator, technocrat and advocate of human capital development with the capacity to provide effective representation at the National Assembly.

The stakeholders expressed confidence that Madumere’s emergence as the PDP candidate offers a fresh opportunity for quality representation, purposeful leadership and accelerated development across Owerri Zone.

“We have collectively resolved to endorse the candidacy of Prince Eze Madumere to represent us at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. Having known his antecedents and pedigree as a man with the capacity, reach and contacts to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people, we have today passed a vote of confidence on him and remain committed to working tirelessly for his victory in 2027,” the statement read.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Ejimkonye reaffirmed the stakeholders’ confidence in Madumere’s ability to attract development to the district. He also commended the former deputy governor’s commitment to youth empowerment, infrastructure development, human capital advancement and inclusive governance.

The leaders appealed to PDP members, community leaders, women, youths and residents of Imo East Senatorial District to remain united and mobilise support for Madumere ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that he would secure victory at the polls.

Responding to the endorsement, Madumere thanked the leaders and stakeholders for their confidence in his leadership, describing the support as both humbling and encouraging. He pledged to run an open-door leadership style anchored on accessibility, inclusiveness and accountability if elected.

The former deputy governor said leadership requires vision, collective decision-making and a commitment to addressing the needs of the people. He urged residents of Owerri Zone to remain united, insisting that building a better future for the district would require the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
