Thousands Attend Funeral of Zimbabwean Woman, Daughters Allegedly Killed by Husband in UK

About 2,000 mourners gathered in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on Tuesday for the funeral of a Zimbabwean woman and her two daughters who were allegedly murdered in their home in the United Kingdom last month.

The victims, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and her daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5, were laid to rest after their bodies were flown back to Zimbabwe on Monday.

Their funeral drew relatives, friends and members of the public, with the white-draped coffins symbolising mourning during the emotional service.

Husband arrested in South Africa

The victims’ husband, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, was arrested in South Africa on July 10.

He is currently facing extradition to the United Kingdom in connection with the killings.

The bodies of the woman and her daughters were discovered in early July at the family’s £1.3 million ($1.7 million) home in an affluent suburb of Bedford, central England.

Families call for sensitivity

The funeral service was reportedly tense, with members of both families in attendance.

Speaking during the ceremony, the deceased woman’s uncle, Ntsika Dakamela, criticised the extensive media attention surrounding the case.

“It has not been sensitive to the grieving families,” he said.

A relative of the 45-year-old suspect also appealed for compassion, noting that the tragedy had deeply affected both families.

“It is a difficult time for both families,” the relative said.

The case has attracted significant attention in both the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe as legal proceedings against the suspect continue.
