2027: Orji Kalu’s ‘Otti Will Win’ Remark Sparks Fresh Debate Over Abia Governorship Race

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has ignited fresh political discussions in Abia State after declaring that Governor Alex Otti would win the 2027 governorship election if it were held today.

Kalu, a former Abia State governor and senator representing Abia North, made the remark during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television. Responding to a direct question from host Seun Okinbaloye on whether Otti would secure victory in the next governorship election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain replied with a simple but emphatic, “Yes.”

Although the senator did not formally endorse the Labour Party governor, his response has drawn widespread attention because of his political influence and experience in Abia politics. Political observers believe the comment reflects the growing perception that Otti currently enjoys strong public support across the state.

Since taking office in May 2023, Governor Otti has focused on infrastructure development, public sector reforms, education, healthcare, fiscal discipline and economic growth.
