Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Abraham has opened up about how her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, once warned that their marriage could end if she did not quit smoking.
Abraham made the disclosure during a recent appearance on The Moraya Show, where she spoke about her marriage, career and personal struggles. She said she was once addicted to cigarettes but decided to quit after her husband made it clear that her smoking habit could affect their relationship.
The actress described Ajeyemi as one of the most positive influences in her life, praising him for supporting her career and allowing her to maintain her individuality.
“My husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi is one of the best things that ever happened to me. He lets me shine and be me,” Abraham said.
She explained that her husband gave her a firm warning about the consequences of continuing to smoke, saying she chose to quit because she valued her marriage.
“I used to be a cigarette addict but he warned me that if I don’t stop smoking our marriage won’t work. I had to stop it because I valued my marriage,” she said.
However, Abraham revealed that although she no longer smokes cigarettes, she still uses electronic cigarettes. “Well, I have stopped cigarettes but I still do vapes,” the actress added.
The Alakada star also rejected the idea that her husband is controlling. She said Ajeyemi gives her the freedom to make personal choices and pursue what makes her happy, as long as she remains safe.
Her comments offer a glimpse into the couple’s approach to marriage, with Abraham crediting her husband’s influence for helping her make a major change in her lifestyle while maintaining that he continues to support her independence.
