BBNaija’s Bella Okagbue Breaks Silence on Sheggz Breakup: ‘I Stopped Believing Promises’

BBNaija star Bella Okagbue has addressed her breakup with fellow reality star Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, saying repeated promises eventually gave way to patterns she could no longer ignore.

Bella spoke out in a statement shared on social media after Sheggz recently confirmed that their relationship ended in January 2026. She explained that she had initially chosen silence because she believed some aspects of their relationship should remain private.

The reality star said she genuinely loved Sheggz and defended their relationship because she believed in what they had. She also said she gave him another opportunity because she believed people could change, but eventually realised that she could not keep waiting for that change.

“The person everyone experiences publicly isn’t always the person you experience privately,” Bella wrote, suggesting that her experience of the relationship differed from the image presented to the public.

She also addressed Sheggz’s earlier revelation that he had purchased an engagement ring, arguing that marriage plans could not solve deeper problems within a relationship. “A ring doesn’t fix what made a relationship impossible,” she said.

Bella further disputed some accounts of the breakup circulating online, saying they did not fully reflect what she experienced. She noted that there were other details she had deliberately kept private and would only discuss them if and when she felt ready.

The former BBNaija housemate said she eventually stopped focusing on promises and began judging the relationship by repeated behaviour. “A hundred promises. Not one fulfilled,” she wrote, adding that she had reached a point where trust, respect and peace could no longer coexist with her continued loyalty.

Bella said she did not regret giving the relationship another chance, but has now chosen to prioritise herself and move forward. “So today, I choose myself. I choose differently, regardless of what comes with it,” she said.
