Trump Promises $5,000 ‘Dividend’ to Americans If Republicans Win Congress

US President Donald Trump has promised a $5,000 payment to every American adult if Republicans retain control of Congress in the November midterm elections, calling the proposed benefit a “Trump dividend.”

Trump made the claim on Wednesday while addressing the Republican National Midterm Convention in Dallas, Texas, where he urged supporters to vote as though he himself were on the ballot.

“If the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000. It will be called the Trump dividend,” Trump told the gathering.

The president did not provide details on how the proposed payments would be funded. A nationwide programme of that scale could cost more than $1 trillion, while Trump only said that the United States was “making so much money.”

Seeking to strengthen Republican turnout, Trump repeatedly asked his supporters to imagine that he was personally contesting the election. “I’m on the ballot, I’m on the ballot — just one more time,” he said.

Trump is attempting to rally Republican voters ahead of the November 3 midterm elections as his party faces difficult political conditions. The supplied polling data puts his approval rating in the low 30s, while voters have expressed concern over high prices and the war with Iran.
