Durosinmi Backs Genk to Challenge for Belgian League Title

Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi believes Genk can challenge for the Belgian Pro League title despite their disappointing start to the 2026/27 season.

The Smurfs currently sit ninth in the league standings with nine points from six matches, having recorded two wins, three draws and one defeat.

Durosinmi acknowledged that Genk’s current position does not reflect the team’s ambitions but expressed confidence that they can quickly move up the table.

“This is absolutely not where we want to be,” Durosinmi told Walfoot.

The Nigerian forward said the squad must improve collectively if Genk are to return to the upper end of the standings.

“I am convinced that we will soon return to the top of the rankings. As a team we just have to do better,” he added.

Durosinmi has made a strong individual start to the campaign, scoring five goals in six league appearances.

The striker will now look to maintain his scoring form as Genk attempt to improve their results and close the gap on the teams competing near the top of the Belgian Pro League.
