Suspected Armed Robbers Raid Taraba University Students’ Residences in Jalingo

Several students of Taraba State University (TSU) have reportedly lost valuables after suspected armed robbers raided student residences in the ATC area of Jalingo, the state capital.

The attack reportedly took place between 1am and 3am on Monday, September 21, 2026, with the suspects allegedly moving from one residence to another and dispossessing students of mobile phones, laptops, power banks and other valuables.

The affected residences reportedly included Dior Compound, Strawers Villa, Mumbai Compound and 3 Brothers Villa.

A source in the university community, who identified himself as Abel Muda, said other student residences along the Alaba to Agric Gate axis were also attacked during the operation.

Some students told DAILY POST that the suspected robbers allegedly broke doors and windows to gain entry into some of the residences. Others reportedly fled into nearby bushes for safety because of the number of assailants involved.

No injuries had been officially confirmed as of the time of filing, although the affected students were said to have suffered financial losses and psychological distress following the incident.

The latest attack comes just days after suspected armed robbers reportedly raided the hostels of the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Jalingo, raising fresh concerns about security around student communities in the state capital.

The affected students have appealed to TSU management, community leaders in the ATC area, the Taraba State Police Command and other security agencies to increase night patrols and strengthen security around student residences.

However, there was no official statement from the police or TSU management confirming the latest incident as of the time of filing this report.
