TG Omori Reveals Cost of Kidney Failure Treatment, Says Dialysis Can Reach N600,000 Weekly

Nigerian music video director TG Omori has revealed the financial burden of his kidney failure treatment, saying dialysis costs can run into hundreds of thousands of naira every week.

Omori made the disclosure during a recent interview on the Afropolitan podcast aired on September 23, 2026, while reflecting on his experience with kidney failure and the cost of treatment as he awaited a kidney transplant.

According to the filmmaker, a single dialysis session costs between N50,000 and N70,000 at some hospitals, while he paid between N150,000 and N200,000 at a private facility.

He explained that patients may require up to three dialysis sessions each week, putting the weekly cost at between N500,000 and N600,000.

“So, a minimum-wage person is dead already on one session,” Omori said, highlighting the financial pressure faced by patients who require regular dialysis.

He estimated that maintaining dialysis treatment for about a year while waiting for a transplant could cost as much as N31 million.

Omori noted that the estimate did not include additional expenses such as medical tests, medication and possible complications arising during treatment.

He also said the financial burden could be overwhelming even for someone earning N1 million monthly.

“So, automatically, if your salary is even one million naira a month, it can’t serve you,” he said.

Reflecting on his experience, Omori said the illness changed his perspective on the importance of financial resources and support when dealing with a serious health condition.

“Even though money can’t buy happiness, money can still buy some time,” he said.
