Raphinha Takes Brazil’s No. 10 Shirt After Neymar’s Exit

Barcelona winger Raphinha has taken over Brazil’s iconic No. 10 shirt as the Seleção begins a new chapter following Neymar’s departure from international football.

The shirt number was previously worn by Neymar, who had been Brazil’s No. 10 at the 2026 World Cup. Raphinha had worn No. 11 during the tournament.

The change comes as Brazil begin their first international fixtures since the 2026 World Cup, with Carlo Ancelotti overseeing the team’s new cycle. Brazil face Australia in Townsville on Friday, September 25, before another meeting with the Socceroos in Brisbane on September 29 and a first-ever senior international meeting with India on October 3.

Raphinha has previously worn the No. 10 shirt for Brazil when Neymar was unavailable. He now inherits one of the most recognised numbers in world football as the national team looks towards the 2028 Copa América and 2030 World Cup.

Other squad-number changes include Endrick taking the No. 9 shirt, while Estêvão has been assigned No. 11. Vinícius Júnior retains No. 7, while goalkeeper Hugo Souza wears No. 1.

The No. 10 shirt carries a significant place in Brazil’s football history, having been worn by legendary figures including Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká and Neymar.

Raphinha is expected to feature in Ancelotti’s starting XI against Australia, alongside Estêvão, Endrick and Vinícius Júnior. The confirmed line-up also includes Hugo Souza, Marquinhos, Vitor Reis, Matheuzinho, Douglas Santos, Danilo Santos and Bruno Guimarães.

Ancelotti has described the current fixtures as an opportunity to identify and develop a new generation of players for Brazil’s next major competitions. Raphinha’s first matches as the official No. 10 will therefore come at the start of that rebuilding process.
