Germany Suffer Injury Blow as Musiala, Havertz Doubtful for Greece Clash

Germany could be without key attackers Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz for Sunday’s match against Greece after both players suffered muscular problems.

The duo underwent MRI scans following Germany’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League, with head coach Jürgen Klopp hoping neither injury proves serious.

“It’s a muscular issue for both of them. They’ve both had MRIs. I hope it’s nothing too serious and the lads will be fit to play again fairly soon,” Klopp said.

The Germany coach added that Musiala and Havertz were unlikely to feature against Greece. “They probably won’t be available for Sunday’s match,” he said.

Their potential absence could force Klopp to make changes to his attacking options, with Jonathan Burkardt and Nick Woltemade among the players who could be considered for the fixture.

Musiala and Havertz both featured in Germany’s 1-1 draw in Amsterdam, which marked Klopp’s first match in charge of the national team. Klopp admitted afterwards that his side still had significant room for improvement.

“We’ll wait and see. But it’s clear we need to rethink things – we can, and should be, considering our options,” Klopp said when asked about the players’ chances of making the squad.

Havertz’s injury is also a concern for Arsenal, with reports indicating that the forward is returning to his club for treatment. He was forced off after appearing to suffer the problem following a challenge from Quinten Timber during the first half against the Netherlands.

The 27-year-old has started six of Arsenal’s eight matches in all competitions this season and scored three goals. However, he has endured several injury setbacks in recent seasons, including knee and muscle problems that limited him to seven Premier League starts last season.
