ADC National Youth Leader Sultan Bello Resigns From Party

The National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Sultan Bello, has resigned from the party with immediate effect, adding another development to the opposition party’s activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Bello announced his resignation in a letter dated September 24, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the Ja’oji Gyadi Gyadi Arewa Ward in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.

In the letter, Bello said he reached the decision after extensive consultations, careful consideration and personal reflection. He also thanked the party for the opportunity to serve and contribute to its activities during his time as a member.

“This decision has not been taken lightly. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served and contributed to the growth and activities of the party during my time as a member,” Bello said.

He expressed particular appreciation to his principal, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, thanking him for his guidance, trust and support. Bello also acknowledged the contributions of ADC leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters.

Recent reports linked Bello’s resignation to his exclusion from a campaign council list despite his involvement in the party’s activities. However, his formal resignation letter did not explicitly cite the reported exclusion as the reason for his departure.

Bello formally requested that his resignation be accepted and that his name be removed from the ADC’s membership records with immediate effect. His departure comes as the party continues preparations and internal political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
